On 13rd October, the Ha Long Heritage International Marathon was officially recognized as a World Athletics Label Road Race by World Athletics. It is the first running contest in Vietnam to receive this title. The recognizing ceremony was held in Ha Long ward and has the participation of Mr. Nguyen Viet Dung, Director of Quang Ninh Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism. 

World Athletics Label Road Race opens opportunities for Ha Long becoming an ideal destination of the international running community, where every competition outcome is recognized nationworld and able to be a vital standard to participate in the big contests such as Olympic and the World Champion. 

With the attendants of thousands of athletics, domestic and international visitors arrive in Quang Ninh annually, the Ha Long Heritage International Marathon contributed to push sports tourism, ramp-up service, accommodation, cuisine revenue and spread the Vietnam image in general and Quang Ninh in particular. 

The Marathon contest 2025 will take place on 21st to 23rd November, 2025 in Ha Long ward, Quang Ninh province. It is an occasion where athletics and people who love running compete and savour extraordinary nature on the race roads of Ha Long Bay – where every step not only conquers passion, but also affirms Vietnam Marathon contest position to the world.

This year, the event is expected to welcome the largest number of international athletes ever in Vietnam, with nearly 3,000 participants—an increase of 120% compared to the 2024 season. Among them are Olympic silver medalist Lee Bong-ju, renowned runners, and approximately 1,500 Korean tourists and businessman.
