According to the information Binh Lieu district People’s Committee, the 2025 Kieng Gio Festival and the Announcement of the Decision by the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism on “Kieng Gio festival of Dao ethnic people at Dong Van commune, Binh Lieu district, Quang Ninh province” recognized as a list of national intangible cultural heritage, will be held on 30th April to 4th May, 2025. The festival is one of the special mental cultural activities of Dao Thanh Phan ethnic people, which remains to be organized annually.

There will have a lot of interesting and appealing cultural, art, sport such as an opening ceremony of Kieng Gio festival and and the Announcement of the Decision by the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism on “Kieng Gio festival of Dao ethnic people” recognized as a list of national intangible cultural heritage; a vibrant cultural performance exchange among villages and hamlets, along with traditional ethnic sports competitions such as stick pushing, tug of war, shuttlecock throwing, and spinning top contests. There will also be a friendly top-spinning exchange between Dong Van Commune, Hoanh Mo Commune, and Dong Zhong Town (China).

Additionally, the event includes exhibitions and showcases of handicrafts, OCOP (One Commune One Product) items, and traditional cuisine of the Dao people and other ethnic groups. Visitors will also have the chance to enjoy various immersive experiences such as homestays, local gastronomy, forest trekking in Dong Van, and nearby tourism activities in Hoanh Mo Commune (Binh Lieu Farmstay).

Kieng Gio festival and the published ceremony are an activity to push strongly preserved mission and bring into play traditional cultural values, contribute to keep and honor unique cultural characteristics of Dao Thanh Phan ethnic people at Dong Van in particular and Binh Lieu district in general. At the same time, this is an appropriate occasion to promote and enhance border tourism experiences for tourists (especially Chinese tourists) as they travel to Binh Lieu.

Organizing the event also aims to celebrate a ceremony of 50 years of national unite (30th April 1975 – 30th April 2025) and International Labor day 1st May, as well as it is a vital occasion to fascinate visitors and stimulate local tourism and contribute to implement a target welcoming 0.5 million tourist arrivals to Binh Lieu in 2025.
