On 6th to 9th April, Ms. Nguyen Thi Hanh, Vice Chairman of Quang Ninh People’s Committee along with leaders of Bac Giang, Hai Duong participated in Vietnam’s delegation led by Deputy Minister of Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Ngo Le Van to attend the 221th Meeting of the Executive Council of UNESCO. On Quang Ninh Department of Sport, Culture and Tourism’s side, Mr. Nguyen Viet Dung, who is a director taking part in the Quang Ninh’s delegation.

On the sidelines of the session, the Vietnamese delegation held meetings and working sessions with Ms. Audrey Azoulay – Director-General of UNESCO; Mr. Xing Qu – Deputy Director-General of UNESCO; Ms. Ernesto Ottone – Assistant Director-General for Culture; Mr. Lazare Eloundou Assomo – Director of the World Heritage Centre; Ms. Marie-Laure Lavenir – Director-General of the International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS); and members of the World Heritage Committee.

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Ngo Le Van called on UNESCO, the World Heritage Committee, and ICOMOS to support Vietnam in its efforts to preserve and promote heritage values. Notably, he emphasized Vietnam’s submission of the Yen Tu – Vinh Nghiem – Con Son, Kiep Bac Complex of Monuments and Landscapes for recognition as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Speaking at the working session, Ms. Nguyen Thi Hanh, Vice Chairman of Quang Ninh People’s Committee exchanged and made clearly worldwide highlighted values of the proposed heritage Yen Tu – Vinh Nghiem – Con Son, Kiep Bac Complex of Monuments and Landscapes; Quang Ninh, Bac Giang, Hai Duong efforts in building, preserving and bringing into play heritage’s values. She also expressed her wants with Director-General and Deputy Director-General, Assistant Director-General of UNESCO, Director of the World Heritage Centre, Director-General of ICOMOS and Ambassadors of the World Heritage Committee member states showed interest, support, and recognition for the Yen Tu – Vinh Nghiem – Con Son, Kiep Bac Complex of Monuments and Landscapes as a World Heritage Site.
