In 2026, Ha Long Bay will gradually enhance its digital connectivity infrastructure by installing around 10 Starlink satellite hotspots in coverage blind spots. This is a significant technical solution aimed at restoring communication, especially in vast or complex areas where conventional telecommunications infrastructure struggles to reach.

Ha Long Bay – where is expected to deploy 10 Starlink satellite hotspots to improve Internet connection for tourists.

According to the initial survey, the proposed locations will mainly focus on popular tourist areas that are difficult to cover with conventional telecommunications networks, such as Luon Cave, Trong Cave, Dinh Huong Islet, Vung Vieng Fishing Village, Cap Tao Lagoon, and Tung Sau Area… These destinations attract a large number of visitors; however, weak signal coverage remains a common issue, affecting visitor experience, management operations, and safety assurance.

The deployment of the Starlink satellite system, developed by SpaceX, is considered a suitable solution for the unique geographical conditions of Ha Long Bay. This technology uses a low Earth orbit (LEO) satellite network (at an altitude of approximately 550 km), enabling the delivery of high-speed Internet access in areas where building terrestrial network infrastructure is challenging, from remote offshore waters to complex limestone terrains.

Following the plan, several sites will be put into operation starting from the second quarter of 2026. This solution is expected to provide significant support in maintaining stable connectivity for visitors throughout their journeys, while improving service quality in Ha Long Bay.

The application of internet technology in Ha Long Bay reflects Quang Ninh’s efforts to make major strides in digital transformation, contributing to the development of a modern, safe, and friendly destination for both domestic and international travelers.
