On 23rd April, Cheongju city’s Tourism Association delegation (Korea) had a meeting with leaders of Quang Ninh Department of Culture, Sport and Tourism and Quang Ninh Tourism Association on the promotion of charter flights from Korean international airports to Van Don international airports.

On Quang Ninh’s side, Mr. Nguyen Lam Nguyen, Deputy Director of Quang Ninh Department of Culture, Sport and Tourism and Mr. Nguyen The Hue, Chairman of Quang Ninh Tourism Association took part in the working session. Quang Ninh’s leaders welcomed Cheongju province’s Tourism Association who arrived in Quang Ninh to survey the investment environment and promote charter flights from Cheongju to Van Don.

On Cheongju’s side, Mr. Kim Beom Je, Chairman of Cheongju city Tourism Association expressed his joyful and pleasure to work and seek investment opportunities with Quang Ninh province’s leaders. He claimed that Quang Ninh has a lot of distinguished potential to grow strongly and sustainably its tourism. He also hoped that both sides could open a charter flight from Cheongju city to Van Don district in the near future.

In the framework of the working session, Quang Ninh’s leaders demonstrated significant advantages and modernities of Van Don international airport, which has a large scale of 325 hectares with a runway measuring 3,600m x 45m, oriented 03-21, meeting ILS CAT II standards, equipped with two turnarounds, a taxiway connecting to the apron and rapid exit taxiways, and parking stands capable of accommodating four B787-sized aircraft simultaneously. It also has a capacity of 2.5 million passengers per year and is modern and well-designed.

In conclusion, Quang Ninh province affirmed its commitment to creating a favorable legal environment and implementing incentive policies to attract foreign investment. Both sides have expressed strong determination to establish a charter flight route between an international airport in South Korea and Van Don International Airport by October 2025.
