On 17th and 18th May, 2025, Hai Son Commune (Mong Cai City, Quang Ninh) is filled with the festive sound of drums and the vibrant purple hue of sim flowers — a symbolic blossom representing love, loyalty, and the resilient spirit of people living along the border. This year’s Border Sim Flower Festival has truly become a cultural and tourism highlight, attracting large crowds of local residents and visitors from near and far.

With the theme “The Purple of the Border, Connecting Heritage”, the festival offered a rich highland atmosphere where nature, people, and culture blended harmoniously. The solemn opening began with an incense offering ceremony at the Pò Hèn historical site — a place that commemorates the heroic sacrifices of border guards and trade officials of the past. It was truly a meaningful reminder of patriotism and gratitude toward previous generations. The Border Sim Flower Festival not only honors the beauty of the traditional flower but also provides a vibrant cultural playground for the community. Here, visitors can immerse themselves in a series of lively, identity-rich activities.

In the framework of the festival, a large number of interesting activities fascinated a lot of participants including locals and tourists such as: Half Marathon 2025, spaces launching the unique products, specialties, and cuisine of the mountainous Hai Son region; along with sports exchange activities and traditional folk games; Experiential activities and visits to community-based tourist attractions in Hai Son, such as cultural works reflecting the traditions of the Vietnam Border Guard and the Po Hen National Historical Relic Site, Panai peak or Ma Thau Son mountain…

The Border Sim Flower Festival 2025 was actually an unique cultural festive day and an ideal occasion to enhance community solidarity, widely spread people and fatherland love, contribute to promote tourism potentials of Mong Cai city – the frontier of the Fatherland.
