On 20th April, thousands of tourists and athletes took part in the Yen Tu mountain climb contest 2025 with the theme “Conquer Phu Van peak” at Yen Tu special national relic area. This is a vital sport and tourism event aiming to promote the image of Yen Tu relic area and incentive for sport-exercise movement according to the mentality of Ho Chi Minh President.
This year’s race features the participation of over 2,000 professional and amateur athletes from nearly 30 provinces and cities. Competitors will race in two distances: 5 km and 8 km. For the 5 km race, the route includes: Minh Tam Square – Giai Oan – Tung Road – Thap To – Hoa Yen, and then back. For the 8 km race, the route follows: Minh Tam Square – Giai Oan – Tung Road – Thap To – Hoa Yen – Mot Mai Pagoda – Bao Sai Pagoda – An Ky Sinh – Statue of King-Monk Tran Nhan Tong – Dong Pagoda – Buddha Statue – Van Tieu Pagoda – Hoa Yen – Thap To – Tung Road – Giai Oan – Minh Tam Square. These landmarks are not only rich in cultural and spiritual significance but also serve as stunning symbols of the natural beauty found in the sacred Yen Tu Mountain.
The trail reaches an altitude of up to 1,068 meters above sea level, winding through the sacred Yen Tu National Forest and its system of cultural and spiritual relics. Fueled by a strong, adventurous sports spirit and the drive to conquer new heights, thousands of athletes gave it their all on the challenging route and successfully reached the finish line.
The organization of the large-scale event of Yen Tu mountain climb contest contributed to stimulate local tourism and enhance the attraction of the destination. In the days the event was held, the number of travellers arriving in Yen Tu mounted significantly and many accommodations and service facilities were full of room.
After 12 years the competition was temporarily stopped, it came back with bigger scale, professional and community characteristics. It is a meaningful cultural and sport event to promote, demonstrate special values of Yen Tu special national relic area’s history, culture, natural landscape in its journey of Yen Tu – Vinh Nghiem – Con Son relic and monument complex recognized as a world heritage.
