Over 16 past years, Tuan Chau international cruise port affirmed its position as a safe, high-quality destination that contributed significantly to preserve and exploit Ha Long Bay heritage. In the new development phase of Quang Ninh tourism, the port arranged and enhanced the quality to serve tourists.
To enhance the quality of services in Ha Long Bay and address infrastructure challenges at aging and overloaded ports, in 2009, Tuan Chau Group put the Tuan Chau International Passenger Port (Tuan Chau Port) into operation. This was the first artificial port in Vietnam and Quang Ninh’s first Public-Private Partnership (PPP) project, featuring top-tier, modern, and synchronized investment at the national level at the time. Operating under the motto “one destination, many services,” the port has effectively met the needs of tourists during their sightseeing journeys in the bay.
Over more than 16 years, the port has annually facilitated the arrival of millions of domestic and international tourists. With the philosophy of ensuring the best possible service conditions and continuously improving visitor experiences, Tuan Chau Group has consistently invested in innovation and upgrades. Initially, the terminal covered an area of 800m² and served about 2,000 passengers. Today, it has expanded fivefold to over 3,000m², capable of accommodating nearly 10,000 passengers at the same time.
In addition, the port has continuously upgraded and synchronized its infrastructure, introducing a range of new, attractive, and convenient facilities across various functional zones. These include dining areas, scenic viewing spots, shopping zones, children’s play areas, a medical station, a traditional music and dance performance area, and a travel information center.
Along with that, the port has invested in and added new waiting areas for overnight cruise boats, canopies, electronic sign boards, and an integrated online ticket booking system. This system is interconnected with relevant authorities operating at the port, facilitating fast and efficient procedures for travelers. These improvements have significantly enhanced the passenger experience—minimizing congestion during peak periods and providing a more seamless, convenient travel process.
By proactively preparing its infrastructure and anticipating the trend of interprovincial development, Tuan Chau Port has clearly demonstrated significant efforts in continuously upgrading and enhancing its facilities and services. The port will continue to strengthen its reputation as a gateway and a premier, safe, high-quality, and welcoming destination for every traveler exploring Ha Long Bay.
