From August 2 to 4, the first group of 45 Vietnamese tourists traveled to China via the newly opened bilateral border gate pair of Hoanh Mo (Vietnam) – Dong Zhong (China). This marks a significant milestone in launching a new cross-border tourism route from Quang Ninh province.

The first of 45 Vietnamese tourists departed from Hoanh Mo border gate.

The 3-day, 2-night journey included travel by car and high-speed train, following the itinerary from Ha Long – Binh Lieu (Quang Ninh) to Nanning (Guangxi, China). This cross-border tourism product represents the joint efforts of the tourism sector and local authorities in implementing the development plans for the Hoanh Mo – Dong Van and Bac Phong Sinh border gate economic zones.

Earlier, in June 2024, Quang Ninh province and the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region (China) held a formal ceremony to announce the official opening of the Hoanh Mo – Dong Zhong bilateral border gate. The organization of this first tourist group through the newly opened gate affirms the commitment to expanding international tourism cooperation and trade exchange.

In the upcoming time, Quang Ninh promises to welcome additional tourists from this border gate.

This activity also concretizes the outcomes of the “Spring Meeting” Program and the Joint Working Committee Conference held in February 2025 in Quang Ninh, contributing to strengthening the friendship and comprehensive cooperation between Quang Ninh province and the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. Both sides are actively working to soon open the route for Chinese tourists to visit Quang Ninh and other parts of Vietnam through this border gate, thereby unlocking new opportunities for tourism development in the border area.
