On the occasion of World Ocean Day (June 8), an organization headquartered in the United States published the 2026 edition of the Corona Beach 100 global beach guide. This year’s list features 100 beaches across 22 countries, including 27 new destinations. As a result, Soi Sim Beach (Ha Long Bay) was unexpectedly included among the top 100.

The beaches were selected based on various criteria, including landscape, local cultural beauty, and connection with nature. The list not only honors the world’s most beautiful beaches but also aims to raise awareness of coastal ecosystems and their ecological value. A representative of the organization stated that the list is expected to inspire people to explore nature and protect valuable coastlines worldwide.

Located in the central area of Ha Long Bay, Soi Sim covers approximately 8.7 hectares and is about 12 km from Tuan Chau International Passenger Port.

Located in the central area of Ha Long Bay, Soi Sim covers approximately 8.7 hectares and is about 12 km from Tuan Chau International Passenger Port. The name ‘Soi Sim’ originates from the rose myrtle trees that grow abundantly on the island’s hills.

From May to July, purple rose myrtles bloom vibrantly across the mountains and along the walking trails, creating an enchanting landscape. The island is home to a primeval forest with a diverse ecosystem, featuring many endemic plant species that hold significant ecological value in Ha Long Bay.

In 2011, Quang Ninh Province established the Ha Long Bay Flora and Fauna Conservation Area on the island. Since then, the entire forest ecosystem, along with terrestrial and marine wildlife, has been strictly protected.

Across Southeast Asia, alongside Soi Sim, the list highlights a range of remarkable beaches, including Alegria, Cloud 9, and Nacpan in the Philippines; Koh Mak and Railay in Thailand; as well as Padar and Pink Beach in Labuan Bajo, Indonesia.
